The results are in!!
My test results are in...I passed!! It feels so good to say that right now; it feels like it would never come. I guess this means I am now a board certified 3rd year medical student...hehehehe (stole that one from PP).
So yesterday I started my orientation at Maimo and got to see a bunch of SGU people I haven't seen in about 3 months. The hospital seems really cool, very busy and a really good learning center. It is so nice being only a block away from the hospital, it makes it so much more convenient. I also found out that I am starting with my Peds rotation, which I am very excited about because that is what I am most interested in pursuing. Today was my 2nd day filled with lots of lectures about hospital safety, HIPPA training, and clinical cases. I have orientation for the rest of the week and then bright and early Monday morning at 745am I start my first core rotation, Peds!!!
Well, it is now 4 days later and I am writing again to update. The rest of my week at Maimo for orientation went pretty smoothly; we had more meetings and more meeting people and all the other stuff needed, I guess, to start working at Maimo. This weekend was very fun. Friday night, Nat and I had date night and went out to dinner to an Italian/Cajun restaurant, it was very good. Saturday, Nat, CL and I went to a Yankees game; they were playing the Angels (which by the way are now called the LA Angels and not the Anaheim Angels, very wierd). We didn't have tickets but we went anyways and scalped them with the help of CL, hehehe. Anyways, it was a really fun game but the Angels did lose, bummer, but that's ok cause I am a Dodgers fan at heart. So Yankees stadium was ok, nothing like Dodgers stadium or Staples center, but now I can say I have been to a Yankees and a Mets game. After we went to the game, we decided it was too nice of a day to go back home; we all decided to go walk around Central Park. It was so pretty and there were so many people there. We tried to go to the zoo but it had already closed. We ended the evening with dinner at Chipotle, a little flavor of home. Today, we went to SoHo to shop for more work clothes for myself and to get Nat some new skate shoes. We met up with Jav, Nicole, Cheryl and Colin along the way...it was great seeing them and hanging out with everyone. We ended this evening by going to Whole Foods in Union Square, another great flavor of home. Anyways, I will post pics from the baseball game later. Wish me luck for my first rotation and pray that I don't try to take all the cute little kids home with me, hehehe!
