New puppy!!

So Nat and I did it! We decided to get another puppy...and of course we got another pomeranian. She is black and tan, 10 weeks old and very rambunctious! Her and Carib had a rough first couple of days getting used to each other but slowly they are becoming friends!

New York Christmas

Due to our hectic schedules, Nat and I decided to stay in NYC this year for Christmas. I was post call on Christmas Eve day and had Christmas day off. Nat and I got a little Xmas tree and decorated with little ornaments. For the actual Xmas day, Nat and I were gracially invited to have dinner at one of his fellow ED resident's house. We had a great time and Carib even dressed up as Santa.

Maimonides Gala '08

This past weekend Nat and I attended our first black tie doctors event; it was the annual Maimonides Gala. Nat and I got all dressed up to the nines and made our way to the World Financial Center, which is across the street from the World Trade Center. Nat does not have a tuxedo and it was kinda late notice to rent one so he just wore a nice dark suit. My attire was a little tougher to figure out...went to Bloomingdale's with Nat and the dog and found a beautiful sweetheart cut, strapless, long black dress but of course they did not have my size. So surprisingly I whipped a fabulous outfit using everything I had at home (I even busted out the Manolos!!). So I am attaching our pictures from the event...enjoy!

Halloween '08

Halloween 2008 came up pretty fast on us this year. So I knew that I would be on call on Halloween night so I didn't really think anything of it but luckily one of the peds residents decided to have a Halloween party on Thursday, the night before Halloween. So being that this was Nat and my first Halloween since our first Halloween when we first met, I wanted to go all out. I dragged Nat, and the puppy, to the biggest costume store in Manhattan with no luck at all; all we got was a very tired puppy and a very cranky Nat (he wasn't feeling very well at all that day). Nat and I kept going back and forth with costume ideas, i.e. cow (Nat) and milk maid (me), 80s prom king and queen or Dorothy (me), the scarecrow (Nat) and Toto (Carib). It was really getting done to the wire wear it was 5 days before the party and we still did not have a costume. One night, t minus 3 days, while on call at Coney, Nat called me and said "I have an idea. We are going as mummies." and that was it. The Maimo ED was generous enough to "donate" the gauze wrap that Nat dyed with black tea to give it that old, yellowing look. Now add some makeup, some long johns and you got yourself a mummy costume.

Hawaii Vacay

Nat and I just got back from an amazing trip to Maui, Hawaii. We first flew to CA and spent about 2 days there just getting stuff done, like getting a new driver's license and visiting the salon and of course dropping off the puppy with the 'rents. Those 2 days in CA were wonderful...it's was so nice getting out of NY especially cause the weather has started to change in NY. After the 2 days in CA, Nat and I flew to Maui!! Nat had put down on the expedia reservation that we were on our honeymoon, so when we finally got to our hotel at 1130pm, the hotel informed us that they had upgraded our room to a deluxe ocean view room. It was so big and so pretty with 2 flat screen TVs and a gorgeous view.
So what did Nat and I do on our Maui vacation? Did we take the Road to Hana drive? Did we go see a luau? We did none of it. Nat and I literally laid on the beach or by the pool all day every day except for 3 days: one day when we went to Wailea/Kihei, another day when we went to Hookipa so Nat could surf and a third day when we went to Molokini for diving/snorkeling. It was absolutely wonderful doing nothing and having no responsibilities except to finish reading all the books I brought with me (non-medical books of course...I am currently addicted to the Twilight series of books). We both got great looking tans and the dark circles under our eyes have slowly disappeared. We ate lots of good food and lots of good ice cream; not so many Mai Tais or daiquiris though, hehe. Overall, it was an amazing trip that went by way too fast. Upon return, we stopped off in CA and spent another 2 days there to hang out and to pick up the little one. So we are now back in NY and I start back at work tomorrow and Nat started back today...it's official...the vacay is over. =(
