Finally, my trip!!

Ok, so finally I am writing a post about my trip sailing around the cays. So there I am on the boat making our way to the Cays. As you can see the water is like a turquoise-blue, it was so clear. A group of 5 of us set sail on friday morning with our young captain. We sailed from St. Vincent, passed Bequia and Canuan, and on to the Tobago Cays. There are many little islands around the Cays but we mainly hung out by Petit Tabac. It was interesting because the last time I went to the Cays was with Nat two years ago when he was a student here and we saw different islands completely from theones I saw on this trip. Once we finally made it to the Cays, after about 5 hours of sailing with the help of our own private crew, PP and SS decided to help a bit, we went snorkeling. And for those that know me, I am no friend to the water, so I had my trusty life jacket on every time I stepped in the water, but I made sure there was no camera in sight whenever I wore it!! hehehehe. It was awesome snorkeling; we saw a sting ray, many many fish that I have no idea what they are called, and even a turtle. That night we anchored in the Cays and BBQ off of the boat and had a great time chatting and just enjoying the scenery. The pic to the left is from our boat, with the sunset in the Cays in the background. SO the next day, we wake up pretty damn early and head over the Jack Sparrow's Island, yes the exact same island where in the first POTC, Jack was dropped off with Keira and he finds the underground storage of rum; there was however no storage of run when I went there!! We walked around the island, went hunting for shells and mainly just relaxed. It was awesome, especially because we were the only ones on the island. After that we headed back to the boat, ate some lunch and set sail again back towards Bequia (because it would take about 6 hours to get to Bequia against the wind). We then got to Bequia, 6 hours later, ate a hearty dinner and then headed out to the bars on Bequia to find a TV to watch UCLA play LSU in the Final Four. We stayed at The Salty Dog just long enough to keep SS happy!! The next pic is from the boat as the sun is setting in Bequia. This brings us to Sunday morning. Another early wake up call but this time we just lounged around the boat until we had to leave, around 10am. Once we were on our way, the "crew" decided that we should get back to Vinny's only on wind power, no motor! It was so cool. SS and PP were pretty much in charge of the boat, SS was even tacking. The whole way back I kept think ing how much cooler it is to have a sailboat than a motor boat (no offense mom and dad). So this is just a general synopsis of my trip to the Cays. I might put up some more stories later on, we'll see!!
