Let the Interview Season Begin
So I have started residency interviews this past Friday in New Jersey. It was definitely an interesting day, to say the least. It started with a phone call at 345 am asking if I had asked for a car service at 330am which very groggily I replied No. Trying to go back to sleep (cause I set my alarm for 4am), I thought maybe I should call the car service to triple check that my pick up was set for 430am. Well, it ended up that someone had accidentally written down my pick up time as 330 instead of 430!! Thank god I called. After getting ready and getting picked up at the correct time, I made my way to Penn station where I was catching a train to NJ. Well, mid-ride to Penn, my driver pulled over, looked at his front, right tire and then opened my door and in very very broken English says, "Flat tire, you go!" Mind you we were in the middle of the financial district of Manhattan at 5am and god knows how far away from Penn station. I then looked at him with such astonishment that I couldn't believe that this was really happening to me. So I got out of the car and thank god saw an empty cab speeding by. Luckily, I made it in time for my 535am train to NJ. The entire train ride all I kept thinking was if this is any indication of the day I'm about to have, I am in for a hell of a day. Lucky for me, my day was totally OK. The interviews went well and I didn't have any unusual events that happened to me on the way home except for getting stuck in Friday afternoon rush hour. I have 2 interviews this upcoming week and luckily they are both reasonably local; one in Queens and the other in Manhattan. I am still waiting to hear from the majority of California programs so please keep your fingers crossed.
