Maimonides Gala '08

This past weekend Nat and I attended our first black tie doctors event; it was the annual Maimonides Gala. Nat and I got all dressed up to the nines and made our way to the World Financial Center, which is across the street from the World Trade Center. Nat does not have a tuxedo and it was kinda late notice to rent one so he just wore a nice dark suit. My attire was a little tougher to figure out...went to Bloomingdale's with Nat and the dog and found a beautiful sweetheart cut, strapless, long black dress but of course they did not have my size. So surprisingly I whipped a fabulous outfit using everything I had at home (I even busted out the Manolos!!). So I am attaching our pictures from the event...enjoy!

Halloween '08

Halloween 2008 came up pretty fast on us this year. So I knew that I would be on call on Halloween night so I didn't really think anything of it but luckily one of the peds residents decided to have a Halloween party on Thursday, the night before Halloween. So being that this was Nat and my first Halloween since our first Halloween when we first met, I wanted to go all out. I dragged Nat, and the puppy, to the biggest costume store in Manhattan with no luck at all; all we got was a very tired puppy and a very cranky Nat (he wasn't feeling very well at all that day). Nat and I kept going back and forth with costume ideas, i.e. cow (Nat) and milk maid (me), 80s prom king and queen or Dorothy (me), the scarecrow (Nat) and Toto (Carib). It was really getting done to the wire wear it was 5 days before the party and we still did not have a costume. One night, t minus 3 days, while on call at Coney, Nat called me and said "I have an idea. We are going as mummies." and that was it. The Maimo ED was generous enough to "donate" the gauze wrap that Nat dyed with black tea to give it that old, yellowing look. Now add some makeup, some long johns and you got yourself a mummy costume.
