Surviving Intern Year
It is now almost 2 months into my intern year and I am still here!! (doesn't seem like it a though with my absent blog entries, hehe). I finished my 1st month on the floor and actually really liked it. I got into such a good groove and had a really good rapport with all of the attendings, nurses and fellow residents. Once I got into a comfortable routine, my month was done and I had to go to Coney Island for the 2nd month. At Coney Island I started my month of clinic with nursery calls. At first, I was not too happy at Coney for many reasons. The first reason was that I had to travel by both subway and BUS just to get to the hospital and I of course took the wrong bus and ended up God knows where because I have NEVER taken a public bus in my life! Second reason was the food; there is a crappy cafeteria (not kosher) and an OK deli across the street. So my team and I are forced to order food every time we are on call and even sometimes for lunch. But after a couple of days and a few calls, I have really liked it at Coney Island Hospital. My calls in the nursery have been very interesting with many babies being born and me just praying that I don't drop them when the OB doc hands them off. In a couple of days and one more call at Coney, I'll be back at Maimo for NICU, which I am totally nervous for. Well, I haven't taken many pictures recently but I'll post the few that I have. I promise I'll update more, especially after every new rotation to report if I have survived or not! hehe
