LA Girl Still Stuck on an Island

Hell has begun!

Monday morning I started my Kaplan classes in Pasadena and let me tell you it's a little brutal. I was there bright and early at 730am to register, 8am orientation, 9-12pm diagnostic test (which I am still awaiting the results) and then right into neuroanatomy from 1pm-5pm. It was a crazy first day. Right when I got home, Nat was waiting patiently for me on the doorstep, he drove down from SF that day to spend the week with me. Overall, the class has been going ok, thankfully I do know a lot of people in the class so I am not too lonely. We just finished up Neuro and now we are moving on to Histo and Anatomy, oh yeah! Today is a "study" day where I am left to my own accord to study for 10 hours, so far I am on hour #4, have a little bit more to do. It's really nice though being back at home, especially for the food aspect. Think I am going to join a gym for 2 months while I am here so that CL and I can work out after class. Well, back to the books for me!

p.s. just wanted to congratulate again my wonderful friend Dr. SB, she graduated this past weekend from Chapman University PT school. I am so very proud of her.

I am back!

Well I am back. I finished finals and ended the term very successfully. After classes ended Nat and I took our mini vacay to Barbados for 5 days. It was wonderful; both what we really needed. Nat surfed a lot while I laid out on thebrach and worked on my tan...and boy what a tan it is! hehehe. I got back home on Wednesday night and am very very excited to be home. I have been shopping and eating all of my favorite foods, like In-n-out, PF Chang's, Crocodile. Monday, I start my Kaplan class and my next 7 weeks of studying hell!

End of an Era

Yesterday was my official last day of Basic Sciences for med school. I feel like I have been preparing for this day forever, or at least since the start of MPH. I can't believe that 3 years of my life have gone by so fast. It really feels like just yesterday I started MPH, worried that I wouldn't be able to get through Maternal and Child Health or my Capstone and now I am finishing up my "classroom" education in med. Now all I have to do is get through these next 2 finals: pharm-monday and pathophys-thursday, and I will be back in the states. The next hurdle in my life/med career is studying for and passing Step 1 USMLE. I will be back to Pasadena May17th and then starting my class May 22nd (nat and I are doing a mini-vacay in Barbados right after I finish up here in Vinnys, which we are both very much looking forward to).
So Please say a little prayer for me for finals! And See you all back on the mainland!!

Quick Update

It's been a whorlwind couple of days. Nat came into town last Wednesday and then we immediately flew off to GND, where we met up with JM and stayed at the University Club. The UC was awesome, beautiful room, great food and everything paid for!! Thursday, Nat made a brief presentation with JM and then we headed off to the Aquarium for dinner (oh the memories!). Friday, after a 4 hour delay, we flew back to Vinnys where JM and Nat made another presentation. It just so happened that there was no water on the island so we were kinda digging around for some. Nat and I then left Sunday morning for the Tobago Cays, which was beautiful as always. We had a great time and spent the night in Union Island like we did almost exactlyt 2 years previously when Nat was in Vinnys (funny how fast the time flies). We got back Monday evening and have just been laying low since. I have been studying for my finals that I have next week; very hard to do with the little bit of motivation that I have. Anyways, will update more later!!
