Girls Night Out!!

This past Friday was my friend Suzi's bachelorette party in the city! I had such a blast! It was so great hanging out with the girls. We all met up in the city to do a little manicures and cocktails at this really cute place called "Dashing Divas". The place was so cute; everything was pink inside and they even made you pink cocktails. After our manis, we made our way over to Little Italy to have dinner at this really fun restaurant. I guess it's the place for bachelorette parties cause there were like 3 other groups of girls there celebrating. Dinner was so yummy; everything was like preset and they came out with an appetizer tray, a pasta tray, a dessert tray and lots of bottles of wine. It was very fun. We then made it out to a couple of bars where Suzi was forced to dance on top of the bar and take lots of shots, hehehe! The last place we ended up at had a live band to dance to and sing along with. We had such a great time and I got to meet some really cool friends of Suzi. Later on in the night, I met up with Cheryl, Rich and Pete (who is in town to do his Psych rotation). We didn't stay too long cause it was already pretty late but it was great seeing everyone. Well, I will attach some pictures of Friday night.

Puppy in Recovery

Here's a picture of Carib after we picked her last night from the vet's after she got spayed and 10 teeth extracted. She was really groggy and out of it but still as lovable as ever. She is supposed to be in recovery for a couple of days! I hope my little princess gets better soon.

Here is a picture of Brook and I at Rockefellar Center. Brook came to visit me with her boyfriend, his mom and her mom! It was so great seeing her again! Just like old times...I miss my Brooklyn!

"The chance to cut is the chance to cure"

I am writing this post about 1/3 of the way into my surgery rotation. This rotation, to say the least, is the hardest rotation I have done to date. The hours suck, the long procedures suck and the even some of the residents suck, he he. I did 3 weeks of general surgery first on red team, which is the hardest team of all of the surgery teams. The red team does everything and more! Everything from lap choles (gallbladder surgeries) to double mastectomies (removal of both breasts). And to add insult to injury I was on the same team as our preceptor who happens to be the asst. director of the entire surgery department and one of the toughest men I have ever met. Hopefully, he didn't think I was too much of a moron when he pimped me every minute of each day. I think I did pretty well, despite all of the hardships, on the red team and I hope I got a good eval. So now I am on 6 weeks of surgery electives. The first 2 weeks I do Urology which is ok, much more laid back than general surgery. I have seen a lot of very different cases including a penile prosthesis in a 65 year old man, no joke! I tried my hardest not to start laughing at this very "serious" matter, hehe. I have 1 more week of urology and then off to anesthesia which I heard is very cool and not that hard. I want to see if they will let me do a week of peds anesthesia just so I can see the little kiddies. After those 2 weeks, I have peds surg, which of course I am very excited about. After peds surg, I finish my surg rotation with 3 more weeks of general surgery, but luckily I will not be on the red team. And then I will be done with my 3rd year of medical school!!!

Other than work, Nat and I have been pretty boring just hanging out with the puppy and planning the wedding. That's right, we are finally getting married. Nat and I have decided to get married May 17, 2008!! I am having a hard time finding a location but we have decided to get a wedding consultant to help us with all of the planning. Anyways, cross your fingers that planning goes smoothly!
