Internet!!

So last night I decided to write this whole long entry about Nat's car problems and him being sick and all and as I was about to post it, the internet died!! It has been going in and out for a while now and they have claimed to have fixed the problem but it still happens. So in retaliation, Gwin called this morning and left a very long message, so long that the answering machine almost cut her off! Hopefully, her message will stir something up and we will finally get this internet thing squared away.

Blah Weekend

So This weekend was pretty blah; no fun adventures, no very hard hikes and even no one getting sick this weekend. I started this weekend friday night after a very grueling day of being at school for 12 hours. We had 4 hours of class in the morning, then some talk about the Falcon review for Step 1, then clinical skills from 1-430ish pm, and then a pharm review from 5-715pm!! So let's just say that I was not in any mood to study when i finally got home around 8pm. We made dinner, watched Finding Neverland and then all 3 of us hit the hay early. Saturday brought us very beautiful weather, lots of work to do and some kids from Grenada trying to find housing. Aviv came by to look at our place and a couple of other places for next term, and I am very glad he liked it and will go back to Grenada to squash all of those nasty rumors there are about Hadaways. We had a great lunch of delivered pizza and I even had some time for a 15min. swin in our very own pool. So Aiv left and I got back to work. Later that night we went over to a friend's surprise birthday party which was a lot of fun when we finally found the damn house! Today was filled with nothing but studying and some more studying. That was my weekend! Fun, huh?

Day trip to Bequia

Yesterday a large group of us, about 20 or so, went out to Bequia, an island part of the Grenadines. We left around 9am by boat which was an adventure in itself. It was probably the worst boat ride I have ever been one. It was swinging, swaying, and all kinds of motions. I, of course, got really freaked out (not sea-sick) just really freaked out when the boat felt like it was going to tip over. So we finally got there and I must say that the island is beautiful; it is everything that I could imagine the Caribbean to be like. It had nice restaurants, hotels and amazingly beautiful beaches. I finally realized that locals live on St. Vincent while tourists go to Bequia; there were so many Americans and Brits...it felt like at was at home! We ended up taking a water taxi to the best beach on the island and the location of the Blues Festival. It was so cool! We pretty much just lounged on the beach from about 1pm until 5pm. At 6pm we finally made our way back to St. Vincent by the same boat that got us there but this time the water was even choppier and it was nighttime!! Let's just say that many people were feeling sick, including me. Overall, it was a great, great day and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really hope to go back there at least 5 more times! Until the next adventure...

First Hospital Visit

So yesterday was my first hospital visit ever. It was awesome. My group's first rotation was anesthesiology. We made it to the hospital ok and everything was going ok until we get led into the male doctors' dressing room to change into our scrubs by an orderly. We got walked in on by some male doctors who were just as equally surprised as we were. After that whole debacle, we went into the OR and watched a procedure on a man's elbow performed by the resident ortho doc. It was a really cool surgery; it seems that the patient had many pieces of fencing-like material sticking out of his elbow, the x-rays were insane. While there we were questioned and taught about the basics of anesthesiology. Overall, it was a really great experience; I can't wait until next week! Well, that is all for now. I will continue to sit here in my apartment on a friday night and watch more movies.

Back to the islands

So here I am back to the islands; I am oh so sad to leave LA after being able to spend the entire Xmas break there. I had a wonderful break! Nat and I went on a cruise to Mexico and Catalina; we also went to a LA Kings and Laker game (where I met Adam Levine from Maroon 5); we also spent a lot of time in beautiful Bakersfield, CA, where Nat is finishing up his rotations. So anyways, I am now in St. Vincent, an island about 25 mins by plan away from Grenada. Things are going well; classes are starting to get more interesting and a bit more difficult. This past weekend I hiked the local volcano called La Soufiere. Let me just tell you, it was a hell of a hike. The volcano is 4000 feet and it was definitely hard. I was sore for a couple of days.
Well I guess that's all that has happened for now. I will try my hardest to write as much as possible about my adventures here.
