Back to the Tropics!
This Thanksgiving, Nat and I decided to be very un-holiday and go to Barbados. We had a wonderful time and it was exactly what we needed. We did a lot of relaxing, Nat did a lot of surfing and I did a lot of not studying, hehehe! Anyways, we stayed at this wonderful hotel called Peach and Quiet and that's exactly what it was, very quiet; there wasn't even a TV in the room (took a little getting used to for me!). We did however, get rained out for the 2 first days; a tropical depression decided to vacation in Barbados too. But after the rain finally went away, we got plenty of sun (almost too much, both Nat and I are quite burned and both peeling right now). Being back in the islands was so great, I didn't realize how much I really missed it. For everyone that went to SGU, you really should go down to any island (maybe even Grenada) just to have a little bit of sun and memories. I am going to post some pics from our trip so be on the look out. Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season.
P.S. My birthday is coming up in exactly 3 days. I am very excited but sad at the same time because I am turning 25 this year, yikes!! I am having a little get together in Manhattan to celebrate, it should be very fun!! Stay tuned for pics from that.

Operation Julie
So as I said in my previous (long time ago) I had a little procedure done by one of the gyn surgeons that I worked with during my ob/gyn rotation, which by the way I am missing very much. The procedure was a diagnostic laparoscopy of my pelvis for possible endometriosis and ovarian torsion. well, neither one of those diagnoses was the case. they did not find any endometriosis or ovarian torsion. instead what they did find was my entire bowel (intestines) attached to my anterior abdominal wall(backside of my abdomen). Fun, huh? well now it looks like i have to get a whole GI workup, colonoscopy included!! anyways, i have decided to let my body heal post-op so i am not persuing the GI consult for a while (maybe around xmas time). anyways, on a brighter and much less gross note, nat and i have decided to be anti-holiday (sorry mom and dad/spencers) and go to barbados for thanksgiving. we are going to have wonderful mexican food with margaritas and watch the water instead of having turkey, stuffing and tryptophan naps. I am a bit bummed about missing the food and the fam time but i am very excited to just get away (especially after the whole operation and all) and spend some relaxing time with nat (in between his surfing time of course). well, just wanted to update everyone. oh by the way, i am now on my medicine rotation and i am not liking it so much but we'll see in the next 9 WEEKS. ok, well happy turkey day everyone!! my bday is coming up, so be on the look out for details and pics from that. bye bye!!

2 down, 4 more to go
I have 2 more days until my Ob/Gyn test and it seems like just yesterday I started Ob/Gyn. I finished my rotation with 3 weeks of Gyn. Gyn was very different from Ob. Lots and lots of OR time and not as much hands on time. We did get to scrub on a couple of cases but because everything is pretty much done laparoscopically now a days I did a lot of observing. It was really fun team and I really got to hang out with the residents and find out what Ob/Gyn is all about. I still stand by my previous statement about Ob not being for me. It's a very cool field and all but the lifestyle and the return are just not what I really want. I do however give massive credit to all of the residents, attendings and anyone else who is going into Ob/Gyn because it is a lot of hard work and many long hours.
Besides work, I have been having some minor health problems and will be getting a laparoscopy done, hopefully, this upcoming Tuesday. Please pray that everything will go ok.
